The most rewarding work here at GMAC is work that involves passing on our knowledge. We have worked with many people over the years, and estimate into the hundreds the people we have taught to lead climb safely and effectively.

It will take a full day of tuition to get you to a stage where you can easily construct your own traditional anchors for top-roping. The work we do in this day of tuition covers gear placements, equalisation of anchors etc, with a view to constructing a top-rope system in its own right, or setting up a top-belay system that would be used at the end of a lead pitch.

We usually require another day or two (max) to get you safely leading on traditional gear. You’ll never look back – a couple of our clients have even gone on to become climbing instructors. We won't baby you through a session, we will be making sure you have the judgment skill necessary to climb independently.

Rates and ratios for learn to lead and top-rope courses are identical to multi-pitch sessions.

  • school, university, corporate and social groups

All our group sessions are quoted on a per-group basis. We can discount heavily, and we provide very good instructor:client ratios so that your group is kept busy during any session.

GMAC has extensive experience with school groups, both primary, secondary and university level. Educating students in mountain craft and climbing skill is one of our primary objectives as a company. We are happy to pass on our knowledge, and are aware that the park environment is conducive to a great school camp. Whether you are looking to organise an afternoon out, or a multi-day outdoor ed. camp - we can help and advise and facilitate. Our staff are well qualified and know the Grampians and Mt Arapiles intimately. We can suggest campgrounds in the area, or local cabin style accommodation. We offer competitive quotes, and are easily to contact!

The workplace can often get a bit stale, which is why many companies choose to invigorate their staff with an adventure provided by the Grampians Mountain Adventure Company. Corporate hierarchy doesn't apply out on the rocks, so GMAC can provide an excellent day of bonding and fun. We have worked with large corporations (Mars, Fosters Group, Vista Print to name a few) ... and many smaller local businesses. Our goal with any group is to offer a challenging activity in a safe context - which only has positive effects on the participants. With accommodation nearby, you have the option of living it up in style after a day on the rock. Catering can be provided, so you can wine and dine in spectacular locations.

Does the footy team need some teambuilding so they can dominate in the upcoming season? Does your social club need a change of location for a bit of renewed interaction? Our guides have extensive experience in showing community groups a good time. You need not feel pressured - you can participate to your maximum, or just soak up the views and fresh air. All equipment is provided, you need only bring yourselves and a sense of adventure. Ask us about catering options, and transport if you so require.

  • Testimonials from some of our clients:

You're paying us to give you an experience of a life-time, and this is what we aim to provide. We love meeting new people, and want to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, so you can perform to your best potential on the rock.

"GMAC is one of the most professional climbing schools we've worked with at Melbourne High School. Their knowledge and ability to communicate with the students is second to none. GMAC is a professional and friendly company. We'll keep using them in the future."
Colin Axup, Cadet Coordinator, MELBOURNE HIGH SCHOOL

"Hi Tori, if you remember me, you instructed me for two days in November while I was visiting from the states. Just wanted to report to you that I finally went on my first trad lead in Yosemite. On my first day I lead a short 5'6 and then the second day I lead the entire 3-pitch 5'5. The first pitch took a long time for me but I sped up on the next pitches as I got used to it. It was such a big moment for me because I was the leader and didn't have a more experienced person to rely on. I got through it all on my own and with my belayer too. Thanks for the awesome instruction!"
Huong Le, climber from California, USA

"I approached Tori as a guide to the Grampians and to teach me the basic disciplines of Trad climbing. I found her hands-on tuition was very effective at getting me to understand (and trust) the gear, and her simple drills a great way to instill good, reliable habits. One thing that stood out about her was how willing she was to dive in and trust the gear I'd placed, which was a great confidence builder. Her relaxed approach didn't detract from her attention to detail, giving pointed feedback on select occasions and always calling out bad habits. Her support always got the best out of me on the more challenging climbs, encouraging me to leave my comfort zones. I came to Tori having never climbed above 30m sport, and ended up comfortably climbing a 200m trad multi-pitch crag with her at Arapiles. Enough said."
    Sebastian Nemeth, Sydney, Australia

"I had a fantastic time rock climbing and abseiling. It is definitely something everyone should experience some time in their life. Our guide was fantastic, offering support and encouragement to those that needed it and spurring on those more advanced to push themselves to the next level. A great day out - highly recommended!"
    Kate Sharpe, Melbourne, Australia

Students and Staff had a fantastic time and were offered achievable climbing challenges in a supportive friendly atmosphere. Students learned safe practices, inter-personal skills and a respect for the natural environment. I would thoroughly recommend GMAC to other schools and private groups.'
Neil Turner, Head of Outdoor Education, WOODCROFT COLLEGE, Adelaide, SA

"Exhilarating, challenging, intentionally located away from the crowds, wall to wall of fun and a pumped up high for the next 2 days...now that's what I call a great day! The climbing and abseiling combo is a bargain for the beginner like me...in fact so much so that I came back again with a few more friends."
